Hi there!
Today I’ll write my blog in English, for you Steve, so that you can now read one of my blogs and it will actually make sense ;) so cool that you read my blogs! And for Angelique so that she does not have to translate it for you. And for all you folks back home, so you can practise your English. And for me, so that I don’t look like a total retard by typing a story through a mix of both Dutch and English. Well, that should be enough reasons, so English it is.
Last time I wrote was 5 days ago. Time flies when you’re having fun. I am already considering of staying longer than the planned four months. Yes guys you can get angry with me now, because this sort of crazy ideas should be handled from the very beginning I know. So let out your anger and frustration, but please do watch your language, little children might be reading this as well.
The bulletpoints are already starting to irritate me, so I will just stick to paragraphs this time (sorry bulletpoint lovers). I am also typing this in Word now, to make sure I will not by accident delete this kick ass story. See, I have already learned so much, in only two weeks. You guys should be really proud of me. I am. Okay enough bullshit, I’ll go on to the realdeal now. We actually did some really good sight seeing this week. On wednesday we went to Capilano suspension bridge. Which is in North Vancouver, or West or somewhere in another part of Vancouver. And as Vancouver is really big, we went there by bike. Awesome. Especially the helmets which are obliged here. Men did we look like a bunch of retards. At least we had racing bikes which made us look a little bit cooler. So we cycled all the way up the bridge out of downtown, which is a really big and high and steep bridge. Amazing view, very heavy panting. Then we cycled down, which was kind a scary but we had helmets so there was nothing to worry about. And then we cycled all the way up this hill/mountain/whatever to get to the suspension bridge. Which was really beautiful, for the people who don’t know what this is, it is the kind of bridge on which Indiana Jones and all his heroic look-a-likes get from one side of a dangerously high cliff to the other side, by running and climbing as the wooden parts break and they nearly fall and die. Unfortunately the Capilano bridge was made from steel, so it was not as adventurous. I tried making it more fun by jumping instead of walking, but I got told off by one of the guards. On the other side there was a national park where you could walk in the trees, these trees were really high so the view was sort of blocked everywhere, but it was good to experience the Tarzan and Jane feeling, I now know why I don’t live in a tree.
Thursday was a lazy day. Of course it was raining, so we decided to stay inside. However, Manon and I had come to the conclusion that we did not want to end up as fatties, so we went out anyway and bought ourselves a huge bag of fruit. We were supposed to make it into a fruit salad but then again it was raining and a lazy day so we just went back to bed.
Having bought the fruit, we went all healthy and actually went for a run on Friday. It costs us two days of muscle pain, but at least we felt better about ourselves and we now had a reason to buy chocolate bars. However we forgot to take them with us from the public kitchen and as our taste of chocolate is really good, they were never seen again. We also went to the watching tower on Friday which was really beautiful. The Scandinavians might be really slow, but they sure do have a good taste and know where to find best places (it was their idea to go to the tower by night as well and to go to suspension bridge). As I type this I realize that as this story is not in Dutch they can read it as well, probably they will not take the effort to read as far as this, but if one of you guys does; we love you dear Swedish meatballs, even though you are really slow and very bad at deciding. ?
Friday evening we went to the pirate bar with the Dutch and some Swedes. They had really nice beer, so it seemed. My coke was really tasteful.. I got an instant refill as soon as I took my last zip. I think the waitress felt sorry for me, being under aged and all. Or she was just hoping for a big tip. Probably the tip.
I ate some really nasty Thaifood on Saturday. Another thing I learned, Canadians are no vegetarians. And if they are, they must look like rabbits as veggie stands for a lot of lettuce and nothing else here. The weather was really nice this weekend though, our first beams of sunlight. We discovered the rooftopratio, perfect place to get a tan on, I am nearly a real ass nigga now. And last but not least, Sunday! Sunday was sunny as a Sunday must be. Did some more tanning, even though our Australian roommate laughed her head off when she saw us, as it still is only 10C.. And I went running with the Swedish guys, which was good even though I got my ass kicked in a running match and that I can not laugh (we did sit ups too)or walk or stand up right now without feeling like a grandma who just fell down the stairs. But I’ll manage, by the end of the week I’ll be a super athlete. Or so I keep on dreaming.
Oh and I nearly forgot the saddest day of all; today. Leaving day, we had to say bye to our Dutch travelbuddy who is going to work on a ranch (jealous..), where I hope they will still hire him because he overslept this morning - due to our kickass goodbye party yesterday – and so he missed his ride haha. And say bye to our Australian roommate who is going to work at Lake Louise. They will be severely missed (I don’t even think this is a real English phrase anyway..) but we will sure keep in touch!
Well guys, I hope this will keep you satisfied for a while. Because upcoming week I haven’t planned any adventures. By the end of the week we have to call the lady of the stable though, so I’ll let you know when we know whether we got the job or not! Which I hope we will, because I just found out that it is a show-jumping stable, super awesome!
Oh and one more thing to make u guys jealous, my list of spotted animals in the wild;
- Bald (?!) Eagle
- Supercute, fluffy Squirrels x10000000
- Skunk
- Raccoons with and without tails
Keep those reactions coming, I love them!
Liefs,
Vieze Freddie
